Obtain a written specific detailed quotation noting the exact tiling work to be carried out. And noting if any deposits and/or progress payments are required and if so the amount of the deposits/progress payments.
The lowest price does not mean the best outcome. Ensure within the quotation the scope of works is clearly described to avoid any hidden extras, note the terms of payment and the expected completion date in order to avoid any after work disputes.
Do not take the cheapest quote, unless the tiler can provide verification the he /she has references from previous clients. Ensure you get the contact details of at least two, preferably 3 others that the wall & floor tiler that has been previously contracted to do tiling work.
PROMOTE THE GOODIES AND DOWN WITH THE BADDIES

Report any defective tiling works to the Department of Fair Trade NSW
Acknowledge good tilers by paying in full promptly, and provide written statements thanking them for providing a quality job of tiling & a professional service.
It is important to recognise the quality Tilers and in doing so promote good tilers and as such reduce the chances of the shonks getting tiling work.
